Voter Engagement Intern

Voter Engagement Interns will play a crucial role in kickstarting YIP’s Voter Engagement operations. They will be making resources relating to voter engagement (ie. training slides, how-to documents) and making/maintaining relationships made with other Get out The Vote (GOTV) Organizations.

On average, Voter Engagement Interns can expect to spend about 3-5 hours per week, which consists of weekly meetings and individual/group tasks. Interns will work directly with the Director of Voter Engagement.

Fundraising Intern (Education)

Education Fundraising Interns will support YIP’s Education Department on funding efforts. Responsibilities will include:

- Researching grants, foundations, organizations, etc. with missions that align with our work

- Applying for grants and other funding opportunities based on research

- Brainstorming new fundraising strategies 

- Collaborating with Education leadership on plans for short- and long-term funding needs 

- Attending regular fundraising team meetings

Effective Discourse Partnerships Intern

Partnership interns will work to assist the Director of Partnerships with day-to-day operations within the Effective Discourse Partnership team. The Effective Discourse Partnership team is responsible for recruiting relevant guest speakers for fellowship sessions, finding funding opportunities for the department, and working closely with the rest of Effective Discourse leadership to ensure a cohesive fellowship curriculum.

Experience with non-profit funding is ideal, particularly in the form of grants, as is any form of networking experience. The work-load is moderate with an estimated weekly contribution of 2-5 hours, though more work may be required at the start of each fellowship cycle. We are in search of students with incredible work-ethic and the ability to be a team-player, as they will be working closely with the Director and the rest of Effective Discourse leadership throughout their time at YIP.

Community Development Intern

YipTok Content Curator

YipTok Content Curators will be working to conduct Street Interviews that will ultimately be posted on the YipTok TikTok page. Individuals would be responsible for finding people to interview at certain locations, creating interesting and bipartisan content, and ensuring that video and audio qualities are suitable for TikTok It’s expected that Content Creator will work about 5 hours of week, and are expected to create four 1-2 minute videos each month.

YipTok Logistics Coordinator

Logistics Coordinators will be working to plan and ultimately post content on the YIP tiktok page.Individuals would be responsible for planning what types of content will be posted, as well as working directly with Content Creators to plan find potential locations for content creation. Individuals will also run the account itself, and work to achieve the highest level of engagement possible with each post.

Logistics Coordinators are expected to work an average of 5 hours per week, between seeking out potential content, communicating this content with Creators, and posting content on TikTok.

Research Intern

Research Interns will be responsible for conducting research for the Education Research & Analytics Sub-Department.

Research Interns will work on a variety of projects such as data collection and gathering, researching strategies and information for projects related to YIP’s curriculum (potential projects include youth polling, etc.), and writing reports.

Research Interns will analyze and interpret the research they find in order to determine relevant connections, analysis and strategies for the work of the sub-department and the YIP’s Education department. Candidates should have strong research, writing and communication skills.

Research Review Associate

Research Review Associates will be evaluating and offering feedback on reference materials used in a non-partisan high school civics curriculum, which should support students' understanding and comprehension of the curriculum material.

Associates can expect a time commitment of 3 to 5 hours a week, split between a weekly team meeting and individual work on the curriculum itself.

Web Design Specialist

The Web Design Specialist will be responsible for creating and maintaining robust online web assets for the Institute's users, advocacy and education initiatives. The Nonprofit Web Design Specialist will develop and deploy custom Webflow pages, mobile-friendly web experiences, and more. This position requires strong attention to detail and a deep understanding of both website design and user experience.

What you can expect to do in this position:

  • Take new page requests from within the company and execute drafts, provide revisions, and finally deploy a final published version live on the internet.
  • Triage bug reports and fix minor design issues or relay larger issues to the team for discussion.
  • Assist in building out larger projects, such as multi-page experiences or one time event pages.
  • Test cross-browser compatibility and ensure web performance, SEO and analytics.
  • Over time, create documentation and expand style guides in collaboration with the Marketing department.
  • Monitor website performance and maintain security of content and data, as needed

Impact Analyst
