Since several major nations will be holding elections in 2024, the widespread production and propagation of deepfakes also pose an increasing threat to democratic processes worldwide. Deepfakes have also been used to perpetrate crimes, propagate misinformation, and impersonate public figures. The realistic nature of deepfakes gives them the power to influence mass populations of voters through misinformation, bringing to light a very real threat to American Democracy.
