Migrant Mental Health: Cultural Sensitivity in Policy
Capstone Project
This paper explores immigration policies and their impact on the mental health of migrants, thus highlighting the urgent need for culturally sensitive approaches in policy-making. The analysis is based on the broader effects of similar policies on migrant mental health, emphasizing the disparities that are a result of culturally insensitive frameworks. Through an extensive review of existing articles and policy analysis, the findings highlight the critical role of cultural sensitivity in enhancing mental health results for migrants. Recommendations for policy reform seek to incorporate cultural understanding and competence in mental health services, suggesting changes that promise to mitigate stigma, improve the distribution of resources, and maintain equitable mental health support for all.
