Helin Wang is a student at Kerr High School in Texas, where she serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning school newspaper and president of a peer mentoring program. Outside of school, she is the director of events at AliefVotes, a local nonprofit. In this role, she leads youth-led workshops on civic education and voter engagement, efforts that have earned both local and congressional recognition. Helin also served on the City of Houston’s Mayor’s Youth Council as chair of the Voter Education Committee. Through Leadership Initiatives, she helped organize civic workshops in Bauchi, Nigeria, and raised funds for schools and health clinics. At YIP, she is head of the Global Rising Innovators in Policy program, developing curriculum to educate students worldwide on civic engagement. Helin hopes to major in political science and attend law school to continue advocating for youth voices and civic equity.
