Kavi Shahnawaz (he/they) is a lifelong Philadelphian who aims to effectuate social change through his skills in communication, policy analysis, and creative problem-solving. Over the years, he has assumed various roles in youth advocacy, community organizing, and civic engagement. Some of the progressive organizations they have worked with include the Every Voice Coalition, Blue Future, and Defend Our Courts. On their college campus, they have served as, among other things, a Peer Mentor and a Facilitator of Partners in Peace, a program by the Nobel Peace Center and National Regional Honors Council. Kavi’s intersectionality and lived experiences as a young person from a big city inform his leadership. He is currently a rising senior at Thomas Jefferson University - East Falls majoring in Law and Society with a minor in Professional and Strategic Writing. Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, he is a poet, film watcher, and food lover.
