A 2024 Cohort C Fellow at YIP who is now a high school senior passionate about environmental policy.

I am a senior at Napa High School and was a fellow at the Institute for Youth In Policy in the Summer 2024 Cohort! I am incredibly passionate about environmental policy and have completed both YIP research projects on climate-related topics. In addition, I am the President of a student climate advocate organization, Napa Schools for Climate Action, and a 5th Cohort member for the U.S. Youth Action Council for the UN Ocean Decade!

Climate Injustice; Evaluating Its Presence In The Bay Area

Capstone Project

This policy review will examine the injustices that occur in the Bay Area region of California as a result of the climate crisis, as well as current policy implications that allow the operations of big polluter companies–in particular Chevron— to operate oil refineries and pollute the surrounding environment, which typically is underserved and low-income communities. Additionally, this policy review will provide policy options that can be used to combat pollution and climate injustice within the Bay Area.
