This op-ed argues that a U.S. war with Iran will, and already has, inevitably draw China into the equation due to shared dependence on Middle Eastern energy, transforming a regional conflict into a test of U.S.–China relations. This moment of mutual vulnerability creates a rare opportunity for meaningful cooperation, that could open doors to improved relations amid broader strategic rivalry.
