Morielle is a Banneker/Key scholar at the University of Maryland, College Park, majoring in international relations. She graduated from the Institute for Youth in Policy Fellowship as a part of the Spring 2024 cohort. She is passionate about cultivating education, promoting civic engagement, and helping create a better and more inclusive world for all.
Morielle is a Banneker/Key scholar at the University of Maryland, College Park, majoring in international relations. She is passionate about cultivating education, promoting civic engagement, and helping create a better and more inclusive world for all. Morielle has been actively engaged in local politics as well as in a rangeof clubs and community-driven initiatives that reflect her commitment toservice and advocacy. In her free time, she enjoys reading, creativewriting, singing, performing in theater productions, and spending time withher family and friends.
Capstone Project
Racial inequality and segregation have been omnipresent within the US since its founding. The ratification of the 14th Amendment, passed following the Union victory in the Civil War, established the equal protection clause, ensuring the equal treatment of all citizens. While the Civil Rights Amendments were considered a massive stride for the Civil Rights Movement, they were by no means the nostrum.
