Siya is originally from the suburbs of Sacramento, California, and became interested in civics and politics after observing the political differences within the Greater Sacramento area. She hopes to bridge divides to foster bipartisan collaboration, and has seen hope from the local governments in her area. Siya was a YIP Fellow before joining the Institute’s Education Department, and she now leads the Research & Analytics groups to produce material that shows current civics understanding and ways to improve going forward. Using her experience interning at the California State Capitol, Siya hopes to make young people feel more confident about their ability to be involved in decision-making processes.
