Sophie Yang

Sophie Yang is a student at the Bronx High School of Science with a strong interest in the intersection of visual storytelling, public policy, political science, and journalism. Through her involvement on her school's Congressional Speech and Debate team and serving as a writer on both her school yearbook and newspaper, she has developed a passion in exploring about media, and policies can shape civic engagment and youth understanding of political and social issues. Sophie enjoys using journalism and visual arts as a tool of advocacy; serving to amplify underrepresented voices, and highlight issues and conerns  in her local community. In her free time, Sophie additionally serves on the National Association for Medial Literacy Education Youth advisory Council, particualry on the design team, where she works to promote media literacy education and skills among the younger generation. Sophie is additionally the founder of Hestia4All, a youth-led social enterprise that supports student artists while providing clothing donations to homeless shelters.
