Community Fundraising Coordinators support fundraising efforts in their communities and networks. This can include partnering with local businesses, hosting an event, encouraging donations from family or supporters, and more. There’s no one “right” way to participate, and coordinators have discretion and creative freedom to design activities that best fit their skills, networks, and local context.

Coordinators typically aim to support at least one fundraising effort per month and help raise around $100 with full flexibility and guidance from the YIP team. The estimated time commitment is 8–12 hours per month, depending on the activities you choose

PIVOT Intern

The PIVOT Center at the Institute for Youth in Policy is seeking motivated interns to support its policy, media, operations, and civic leadership initiatives. The PIVOT Center is a youth-led hub for cross-border policy reform. The Center equips young people—across political systems, identities, and ideologies—with the skills to research, negotiate, publish, and influence real policy. AI Policy Center Applicant

The AI Policy Center will operate as a focused pilot within YIP's Policy Media Department, aimed at creating impact-oriented, human-centric AI policy work and resources tailored to youth audiences, while remaining actionable for real-world policymakers/decision-makers. The ideal candidate has strong interests in AI safety/governance, experience with AI/ML (or related technical fields), and the ability to craft coherent policy arguments.

Civic Growth Interns at YIP contribute to the Institute's mission to foster cross-sector civic change among the youth population. The Center for Civic Growth serves as the hub for civic impact at the Institute, connecting current staff and fellows to the real world. Civic Growth Interns will be assigned to support alumni relations efforts, partnerships, and special projects.

Effective Discourse

Effective Discourse (Fellowship Programs) Intern

As an Effective Discourse Intern at YIP, you’ll help shape the learning experience for our fellows in both the synchronous and asynchronous fellowship program. From editing curriculum to hosting workshops to reaching out to guest speakers, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing our programs to life. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop special projects for Effective Discourse that support youth civic engagement, leadership, and learning. Our synchronous fellowship is a flagship program at YIP, with over 3.2 million views to our fellows’ capstones and a 8% program acceptance rate. Our asynchronous fellowship, the Global Rising Innovators in Policy Program, is designed to be a more approachable and introductory course.

Education Intern

Interns in the Education Department work collaboratively to design and implement content that challenges the status quo of civics education, while also backing that content with thorough, quantitative and qualitative research. Interns will have the option of joining one of five teams: Content, Communications, Strategy (housed within our Development & Advocacy sub-department), Research, or Data Analytics (housed within our Research & Analytics sub-department).

Policy Analyst Intern

Policy Analyst Interns contribute to a wide range of projects that support the research, publication, outreach, and communications work of the Policy Department. Interns may be assigned to one or more of the following focus areas: editing journal submissions, writing or editing policy briefs, editing Op-Eds for the YIP website, or conducting outreach to academic and public audiences. The work for this position may include long-form editing, external outreach, research, or media polishing, depending on the needs of the department and the intern’s strengths.
