Beginning from the late 18th century with President George Washington, the State of the Union Speeches are yearly addresses delivered by the U.S. President to Congress regarding the condition of the United States as mandated by the Constitution. 1 Although a direct report, it is also represented as the agenda of aspirations for the U.S.

To this recent Tuesday, President Trump spotlighted border security with the crackdown of illegal immigration. “...we now have the strongest and most secure border in American history, by far. In the past nine months, zero illegal aliens have been admitted to the United States,” states Trump 2.

He proceeded to champion the nation’s economic growth, disclosing a decrease of mortgage costs and interest rates, stock markets records, and boosted pensions.  He also mentions a rise of businesses, job opportunities, and American oil production.

Finally, President Trump mentions a targeting of Mexican drug cartels, labeling them as a “foreign terrorist organizations” and fentanyl as a “weapon of mass destruction.” 3  His administration led an intense security and protection against the imports of illicit substances to the U.S with a new military campaign.
